Thunder Dragon Treks was established as a specialized travel company by a veteran guide of the time when tourism in Bhutan was managed by the government. Ever since Bhutan opened her doors to tourism, the proprietor of Thunder Dragon has been a guide to tourists from all over the world. In this way, he made many close friends who insisted that he open his own company after tourism was privatized in 1992.  Today those same friends, as well as many new clients continue to visit Bhutan as guests of Thunder Dragon Treks.
